    1. Ordered 6-5-05

    2. Second delivery w/ all parts 7-13-05

    3. Product: Powermatic 64A w/ 50″ accufence.

    4. Saw: assembled in several hours w/ little aggravation.

    5. Accufence: Nothing fit w/out drilling, tapping, and/or grinding. I purchase harbor freight & grizzly cheap chinese out of necessity and have never had this much trouble.

    6. For the money find another product.

    7. This review is one of two(the first missing delivery: I am writing about the assembly, not the function. When I finally get this thing together, I’ll write further in the second delivery.)

We sent our son a powermatic saw for Christmas. When it arrived and when assembled the table was way out of tolerance.

So he called Tool Crib and arrangements were made to return the old one and send a new one, which you very nicely did. That one was more out of tolerance than the first. So he called and both saws were picked up at the same time. I have an email which states that you will credit us for the saw. He (son) has made other arrangements for a saw. We do most of our tool business with you and are sorry that this happened, which I am sure you are also. Perhaps you received a bad batch of saws from Powermatic. Vernon Harrington

I am using this saw since last 6 months and build several projects using this. Overall impression.. OK and not great !

I would stronly recommed that you check Grizzely cabinet saw for under $900 before putting money in this.

Remember this is contractor saw with poor dust control and not enough power unless you use thin kerf blades. I used Powertwist belt which even broke over 8 times. When I called powermatic, they told me to use lower feed rate even for harder woods since this is underpowered saw. I was very disappointed with that.

I checked the new grizzly cabinet saw for under $900 and it is a deal. How can they sell something so good saw for cheap and Powermatic cannot !.. I think you are paying for ‘brand’ name here.

In short, don’t waste your money and either buy powermatic 66 ( real Saw ) for $2k or buy grizzly cabinet saw under $1500.

Oh one more thing, this saw does not come with blade and my saw was shipped with bent fence and it took over 2 months to get the right part.

Just check other saw before buying this ( Grizzley ) . You will Get Cabinet saw at this price with 3HP motor, and you will agree , check recent review from fine woodworking on table saws.

I have had this saw for three years now,all in all it is a pretty nice saw but it does have some issues.I am very picky on my machine accuracy and i always have to fiddle with it to get it to be as accurate as i want. When I first got the saw it had a terrible vibration and couldn’t figure out what the problem i called customer service and they sent a tech right out to my house of course he found the problem right away it was the one thing that i overlooked, the pulley on the arbor was never tightened down to the shaft upon assembly at the factory in taiwan.all in all i kind of wished i had bought something else but at the time it was the only left tilting saw on the market besides the crapsman.I think if i were on the market right now I would bite the bullet and buy the new UNI-Saw Awesome machine nice fit and finish and American made. In the time since I have originally written this review Powermatic saws have gone in the toilet. I now work for a machinery Supplier and have seen a bunch of Powermatics come back due to warped tops bad arbors, and various other quality issues. They really dropped the ball. They used to be a premier machinery company now they are surviving on their name alone. Us woodworkers had better take care of the machines we have,we wont ever find the quality that was standard 15 years ago. Thanks to NAFTA we will all be forced to live with second rate crap unless we pay an extreme amount of money for German machinery. Any of you machinery company’s that read this, shame on you for taking top names and turning them into second rate stuff and taking the jobs away from the folks that actually cared about the quality of the machinery that they produced just to line your fat wallets even more.

Hello, first and foremost the Tool Crib offers the best service and shipping hands down, and best of all it saved sales tax and delivery from my local supplier. The only issue I had with delivery was that the outfeed side table came damaged 4 times, the laminate was chipped and cracked, I think it was poor packaging from Powermatic and Fed Ex didnt take great care dropping it on the coners. The Box had no corner braces or supports.

The last one got to me in one piece.

As I assembeld the table the front rail was off by 1/32, I called Powermatic and they said it could have been made a bit off on the jig, the next day I had a new rail, but in the meantime I notched the rail holes and got it perfect with my t square, I now have an extra rail and 4 side tables which I use for assembly work, yippe, even though room is running out.

The Blade Insert seemd a bit bent too, I tried to flatten it but i called again and they sent me two new ones with the front rail, it took me a day to assemble it and the next day to fine tune and level the unit so I was in no hurry plus I had no blade yet.

I hear complaints of the belt, i dont seem to find any.

The accufence is great, very accurate but you need featherboards otherwise it will go off on you.

I have not used the Mitter Attachemnts but will soon. I Dislike the Blade Splitter alot, yes it prevents kickbacks but no matter how many times I align it, it goes off, so when im ripping a piece of stock sometimes it gets caught and the blade binds my stock and causes a ruckus, It is a real pain to remove and adjust, I realy want to look into a good fix for this, never tried using the saw without one yet.

Another Issue, the steel extensions for some reason seem to get stained easily, I use WD40 and steel wool but for some reason with humidity I always have flash rust, why I dont know this bothers me as to why no protective coating. If I knew I would have powedercoated them clear sating before assembly which i may just do if I have time.

A neat suggestion would be a foot control On/Off switch when your working alone.

All in all this is my first tale saw I am satisfied but have the following comments that Im sure make this review worth looking into for first tiemb buyers and table saw users:

1.Tool Crib has the best price and Customer Service
2.Powermatic technical is great and service A+++++
3.I heard Jet was terrible with serive dont know how since they are the same company
4.I like the white Style of the Jet Better but it was out of stock but thats not a big deal to me.
5.Shipping Beware especialy the side feed table
6.Splitter Sucks and makes me nervous all the time, I need to find a solution to this, email me if you have one please
7.I may coat the extensions since flash rust and stains dont seem to let up, this is worth doing before assembly,Eastwood Co has a nice Diamond Clear that would work great.
I didnt do major Miter cuts since the splitter is such a problem I am holding off until I fix this

I wish I could use the saw to do more out of the box, but I think the major complaint is the splitter.
